rough cut

we have been producing a rough cut for our film piece... although we have not yet got the music ect. for the piece the sequence looks quite good so far.... we are going to get our peers to give us some critisms for it so that then we can make the appropriate changes

COLOUR

during our editing process we decided to put our entire sequence into grey scale... we did this because the background that we chose was far to brightly coloured... originally we liked the bright coloured back ground which is why we had chosen this location. However, when we watched our footage back we noticed that the bright colours in the background distracted the viewer from the action that was taking place. so we put it into grey scale so that the action was the main focus of the sequence.

Lights, Camera, Action

We did the rest of our filming today from 12.30-3.00 pm approx

every thing went very well... we recruited extras, to help fill the scene, from the common room and our leading lady was played by a Btec student.... jack was the main character (John) and Ross, Arran and I where mainly camera operators although jack helped to man the cameras during the scenes in which the other members of our group where involved.
we shot each of the scenes a number of times to ensure that we had enough footage to use in the editing process.

Epic Fail

we encountered a problem during the filming of our time lapse today!

during our filming several people attempted to walk in front of the recording camera... most were very co-operative in moving around the camera so as not to obsure the film footage. However, one group of people ignored our requests and walked directly into our camera.... they then attempted to start a fight with us and threatened to kick the camera over... all in all our footage was ruined so we will have to attempt to film another day.

Location Scouting

Ross, Jack and Hollie went location scouting on friday.... unfortunatly Arran was ill and tradgicaly could not make it... we walked around the college grounds and took still shots of locations that we thought could be included in our sequence
the first was an external shot... unfortunatly we needed a more cloudy day to be able to show the passing of time in the time lapse.
other shots included one of the Huts in which we will set up a common room where we can film the second time lapse.
other class rooms will be used for the match on action and the breakup scene

Story Board

we all made our own seperate story boards at home. Then we brought them into school the next day and cheryy picked the best ideas to put into our final story board. we have included 180 degree rule, continuity, shot reverse shot, time lapse, match on action and a graphic match at the end of the sequence... we put it all together top see if it would work... we are happy with the out come!!!!

Mind map

first off Ross, Arran and Hollie produced a mind map of ideas for the film including; characters, themes, music ect
we settled on having a college break up scene where a boy (john) attempts to break up with his girlfriend (sally) it will end on a cliff hanger so that the viewer does not know if they have ended thier relationship or not.
we decided on using 2 time lapses in the first part of the sequence as establishing shots to set the scene. the first will be an external shot so that the viewer knows that the sequence is set in a college. the clouds will wizz overhead to show the passing of time.
The second time lapse will be inside a 'common room' scene where lots of students are messing around and having a laugh, they will then dispurse to leave John alone in the centre of the room
